  2. In 4th grade we finished up our connotation/denotation and in math we are working on making change/money. Knowing how to count money is an important life skill to have, so any chance we get- lets practice making change!

  3. 4th graders learned about abbreviations and character traits. We started chapter 2 in math dealing with mental math addition and plan B- stack and add... we introduced subtraction with more than one digit as well.
I hope everyone is having a fantastic year!

  4. In 4th grade we worked on stacking and subtracting and will continue through next week! In LA we are working on similes and metaphors.

This upcoming week is the end of the 9 weeks, time is just flying by...
Make-ups or retakes for test will be available this week to make sure we are getting everything submitted on time.
Any questions, give us a call!

In Language Arts we continue to work on figurative language. In math we finished up our unit on subtraction... but we will continue to use subtraction skills throughout the year.

In 4th grade, we are working on MULTIPLICATION. This is so important.... our kiddos need to be fluent in multiplication to do many other math skills. In LA we are finishing up our similes, metaphors, and idioms, "getting all our loose ends tied up"... are we really tying loose ends- no, that is an idiom! ;-)

    4th:
We worked on main idea and detail. This is not a totally new concept considering we do this on a daily basis when we read! In math we talked a lot about multiplication/division, fact families and vocabulary associated with all of the concepts.

  8. Oh no... I forgot to update you with what we did in 3rd and 4th grade last week... We are always soooo busy! We had a great time remembering our Veterans. We learned about what a Veteran is and how they fought and still fight for our freedoms. In both 3rd and 4th grade we took our quarterly assessments. This shows us how well they soaked up everything we taught over the first 9 weeks. It also gives our kiddos a chance to practice for the end-of-the-year OAA. We will continue to practice test taking skills and building the stamina to take such a test. Our students are getting excited about Thanksgiving! We have talked about the different traditions we all have.
In 4th grade we are comparing/contrasting and looking at fact vs. opinion for LA. In math, we finished up Unit 3 Multiplication/ Division and we are going to just keep on trucking with that... Math fact fluency is essential and fun~
