Our wonderful district Language Arts Coach, Sherri Lawrence, found this website- noredink.com.  It is an amazing place to differentiate grammar.  The teacher creates assignments from the data bank and then the student picks 3 interests.  From there, the questions are generated from their personal interests and it gives immediate feedback.  The teacher can see what the student needs additional assistance with... I love it!

My family and I had such a wonderful time at the Conesville Fall Harvest Festival.  Thanks to all of those who worked so hard on making it such a fun night!  PTO, Teachers, and family members really made it work.  Thank you Miss Wright for making face painting for several hours not so bad!

Time is Flying by!

Coming to the end of yet another week. We are getting into the swing of things
and are learning so much. In 3rd grade we are talking about the purpose of reading
and why we pick out books. We also learned about genres. The 3rd graders shared
some writing, so look for some pictures of those who presented their material.
In math, the kids are learning about numbers and place value. The 4th graders are
working on the same concept in math just at a higher level. Our LA class tackled
context clues and I think we have earned professional status...

First Day Back!

How exciting it was to see all of the kids today... a lot of routine practice and getting use to being in school again! The children are amazing and ready for a great year. Some of the other teachers and I were doing screenings to find the present levels of our kiddos! We are using a new reading program this year grades 3-8. It allows the children to read at their highest independent level possible. Differentiation at its finest! We will continue to work hard to make your child the best they can be! " Whatever it takes"... that will be one of my many mottos this year!

Inspiration...

Always remember where you came from; and never forget where you're going.

Almost time to go back!

I cannot believe it is time to go back to school already!  Hopefully, everyone has had a great summer and is ready to hit the ground "learning".  I look forward to seeing all of you.  We have an open house on August 21st at 5:30 and the first day of school is August 22nd.  It is going to be an awesome school year at Conesville Elementary this year!

I can not believe it has been a whole month since my last blog..... We are really busy with getting our kiddos pumped up for the OAA.  We are doing a skit- superheroes, dancing, high school cheerleaders, signs and instruments.  We have written the students letters to let them know how ready they are and giving little treats as well.  Our 4th grade group is going to do a L.A. Hospital and Math Hospital to save victims by answering correct answers... Thank you Mrs. Ireland for finding on Pinterest.com.  Mrs. Bigrigg is pumped.  I think our 3rd and 4th grade group is ready to show their knowledge!  WE ARE... CONESVILLE!

Virtual Field Trips?

A fun way to take your class to a place they may never be able to go....Virtual Field Trips...
Thanks Christie... this looks soooo cooool!  The kids just love it!  Here is our future guys, and how literally amazing!
A nice article I ran across while looking up information on the iPad3.... It talks about the passion Steve Jobs had for education, http://edudemic.com/2011/10/how-steve-jobs-impacted-education/

Be Out There

This is something I ran across while watching tv... how ironic? It is the correlation between kids staying inside and the increase in many health concerns. It gives educators ideas for how we can help at school..

New Idea...

We are always looking for new ways to make our students learning more fun.  My co-teachers and I want to integrate what the students need to know with technology in the classroom.  We are using iDevices and games on the SmartBoard for the students to enjoy phonics, reading elements, common core standards in language arts and math.  We will try to upload videos of what we do in the classrooms as a step-by- step guide for elements you can add in your classroom.  Most videos or uploads will only involve the teachers and our ideas to pass on to others.  With parent permission we may begin uploading live lessons for you to see.  Please continue to check back.  I will pin my blog on Pinterest and other forums to benefit other teachers.  Let us see how this works?  :-)
