  1. My 3rd graders are working really hard: Ordering numbers, persuading/ informing/ entertaining (PIE), writing in journals, etc. It has been quite a week!

In 3rd grade we were working on test-taking skills, synonyms/ antonyms, multiple meaning words, compound words and contractions in Language Arts. Then.... we took the practice OAA for Reading. They were quite the troopers. In math we are adding more than one digit. We also finished up the book Charlotte's Web and got to watch the movie.

I hope everyone is having a fantastic year!

  5. 3rd grade
We continue working on context clues, like little Language Arts detectives. In math, we are still subtracting... borrowing from neighbors and such with multi-digit numbers.

In 3rd grade, we were so excited about the zoo. We took our trip on Wednesday. We came back and wrote stories in LA, and used graphic organizers. In science we learned about the many adaptations. The whole 3rd grade entered pumpkins in the Clary Gardens Pumpkin Walk and we used this time to use our math skills- predicting, weighing, etc. Thank you to Roberta's Catering for providing us with the pumpkins!

In LA we are finishing up our unit on Context Clues... we had a lot of fun with this indicator. In Math we started working on graphs- how there are many different ways to display information.

  8. Oh no... I forgot to update you with what we did in 3rd and 4th grade last week... We are always soooo busy! We had a great time remembering our Veterans. We learned about what a Veteran is and how they fought and still fight for our freedoms. In both 3rd and 4th grade we took our quarterly assessments. This shows us how well they soaked up everything we taught over the first 9 weeks. It also gives our kiddos a chance to practice for the end-of-the-year OAA. We will continue to practice test taking skills and building the stamina to take such a test. Our students are getting excited about Thanksgiving! We have talked about the different traditions we all have.

In 3rd grade we worked on character traits in Language Arts and in math we did Time and different types of graphs. I have pictures of our human line graph and ordered pairs on my slideshow. It was a lot of fun!
